Worlds Largest Halloween Party, Louisville, USA
Louisville USA – October 6-7, 11-14, 18-21, 25-28, 2007, held at the Louisville Zoo.
This is one for the kids, not actually on the night of Halloween, but on the four weekends in October leading up to Halloween. If your kids find scary just too much to cope with, then this is for them; a sweet, fun filled early evening event more storybook than frightening.
It’s full of children’s favourite characters and gentle trick or treating for the under 11’s.
Who will they meet and what will they see as they wander round the Zoo?
The giant talking pumpkin – Mumpkin, greets all the visitors to the evening when they arrive
See Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Do your kids love ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’? Willy Wonka and His friend Oompa Loompa are there to meet the kids in the enchanted land of lollipops and sweets.
For a great photo opportunity visit Pumkinville, with hay bales, hundreds of pumpkins set on a hill all lit by jack-o-lanterns
Love the Wizard of Oz? Then follow the Zoo’s own yellow brick road to the land of OZ and meet Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.
Flintstone fan? Meet up with all your favourite characters from the show.
Arrrrg there me hearties! See the giant 60-foot pirate ship to see Captain Hook, Wendy and Peter Pan
Jungle Book your thing? Have your photo taken with characters from this favourite film.
See Shrek, Fiona at the Kingdom of Faraway at their castle.
If the kids need to let off a bit of steam, they can get rid of some energy at the Astro Disco and boogie with the dancing aliens!
A Carousel ride with a difference – the Zoo’s Carousel runs mysteriously backwoods during the Halloween Party dates!

Don’t forget to take a ride on the Halloween Express train. It takes you round the Zoo, past the Ghost Town Station and through the Love Train Tunnel. Keep your eyes open for the famous Headless Horseman – he will appear when you least expect him and chase the train. Fear not, he hasn’t – as yet – caught the train!
Just one thing, most of the Zoo’s animals are not to be seen during this event…..they are too scared by all the children!
