This highly portable device weighs in at only 10g (but with the transformer it’s 454g). The power monkey is billed as being up to 10 times more powerful than a conventional battery with up to one year’s standby charge. It can be used for charging iPods (giving up to 40 hours use), PSP’s, PDA’s, many Nokia phones, Motorola Razr, Blackberry’s (up to 96 hours on phones), and Bluetooth headsets. It can be used in 150 countries and whilst RRP is £35 you can pick one up through Amazon marketplace from £16.50.
Solio Universal Solar Charger
This is a more eco-friendly, but also more expensive option. It is billed as the leading eco-charger for hand-held devises and is charged from the sun or a wall (?!!). It is claimed that one hour of sunshine charging will deliver one hour of playtime or 10 minutes talk-time. The Solio Universal Charger weighs in at 908g, but of course doesn’t require the additional. You can also get an additional car charger ‘just-in-case’. Amazon marketplace price from around £50.
Freeplay Freecharge Mobile Phone Charger
If you want to be green, but don’t want to spend as much as £50 for the Solio this could be the solution for you – although elbow grease is required! (It can also be charged in a car). This product weighs 908g and claims to provide 45 seconds talk time for 3 minutes of winding so it’s not a soft option – which could be viewed as providing the added benefit of minimising your call costs and impact of radio waves on your brain! It can be yours from around £17.
