Rainforest Paradise – Brazil, Ariau Towers Hotel

Try to imagine walking along four miles of catwalks 70 feet up among the Amazon treetops, watching monkeys, macaws, parrots and sloth’s in the nearby trees.

You get all of this – and more if you stay at the amazing Ariau Towers Hotel. Just getting there is an adventure as it’s only accessible by speedboat or helicopter, or traditional riverboat.  As you walk slowly on the catwalks, pause and look down at the waters of the Rio Negro River below, take in the ambiance, peace and quiet that a stay at this unique hotel offers. The catwalks lead up from a huge circular dining room, giving wonderful views of the rainforest as you meander along them. The whole construction is built on strong stilts at the canopy level of the Amazon jungle, and is located at he foot of the Anavilhanas Archipelago that is formed by 380 islands.

Facilities:

• 250 individual apartments and suites, all having private bathrooms and balconies
• Honeymoon suite 110 feet up a mahogany tree
• The seven towers making up the accommodation are linked by the double Decker catwalk system
• Two heliports
• 2 swimming pools at canopy level
• 2 restaurants each seating 350 people
• Amazing 360 views from the two 150ft observation towers
• Phone, fax and radio communications & 24 hour internet
• Multi lingual guided outings
• Amphitheatre for dance and folk music entertainment
• Exercise equipment

Take a boat ride, go on a nighttime alligator hunt, try piranha fishing, go on a bird watching trip, try walking along a rope bridge 15 ft above the forest floor

Don’t expect 5 star luxury at this Hotel, that isn’t what its about. The rooms are small and relatively basic, but where else could you sit watching the wild life of the Amazon and be so part of nature?  Look down into the waters and you may spot a caiman (a cousin of the Florida alligator), or look closely, be patient and see the pink dolphins.  How many of the six species of monkey’s that live on the premises have you noticed? The flora and fauna is amazing, be seduced by the hotel and it’s vicinity. For a once in a lifetime experience why not consider it as a change to the usual ‘bucket and spade’ type holiday - where you could be anywhere in the world once you are ensconced in a ‘regular hotel.
