Propeller Island City Lodge Hotel, Berlin
This hotel is billed as a work of ‘living art’. All 30 rooms and objects have been created / custom made by a German artist called Lars Stroschen. Nothing has been bought. The intention is that each room has its own very unique ambience.
Not all bedrooms have private bathrooms so you may want to choose your room carefully.
The Blue Room
Some of the more unusual concept rooms are:
‘Coffin Room’ – yep, 2 of you can sleep in (separate) coffins – with or without the lids down!
‘Two Lions’ – (below) a ‘suite’ which has 1.5 meter tall 2 cages in the centre of the room up on stilts – each can be slept in. There is also a separate (non-caged!) double bed.

‘Upside-down room’ – where you sit and sleep in boxes beneath the floor boards
‘Space Cube’ – with twin beds side-by-side with a mechanism that enables a barrier to be lowered or raised to potentially separate the two beds – handy after a row!!
‘Wrapped’ – a corridor like room on a ‘hill’ with three beds on different levels head-to-foot
‘4 Beams’ – a double-bed suspended from 4 large, almost vertical wooden beams reached by a ladder – not for the over-weight!
Many people seem to rave about their quirky experience of staying here on trip adviser, but the service is minimal. The lodge is situated in a quite location is easy walking distance of plenty of restaurants and bars. Be warned – not all rooms have en-suite facilities so you may want to bear that in mind when making your selection.
