Naturism in Mexico

Posted by Jill Bowen on Tue 23rd October 2007 at 03:25 AM, Filed in Mexico and CarribeanNaturism

Mexico is starting to dip into the Naturist market. With a wonderful climate and beautiful beaches it’s the perfect area to ‘practice’ getting an all over suntan. However, they seem to be starting with the (more lucrative) ‘hedonistic’ adults only variety!

I prefer my naturism to be more of the family variety / for all ages – young, old and in between all enjoying each others company without being too ‘organised’. But there is room on the planet for everyone, and if couples don’t want to be pestered by kids, or feel restricted in the company of ‘golden oldies’ who am I to criticise!

Hidden Beach Resort – Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico on the famous Riviera Maya

This is a new, 5* 100% naturist resort with nudity acceptable day and night in all areas.  It’s an all-inclusive hideaway with gourmet food – and room service.

It’s a year round resort for adults only and singles are welcome. Your holiday starts with personalised check in and a glass of champagne to sip while your luggage is taken to your room. With just 42 ocean front Jacuzzi suites it’s a small, intimate resort.  The rooms are set in two storey bungalows in the beautiful flower filled gardens.

The beach is man made with fine white sand and kept very clean. No plastic sun-beds to be found here! You have your own thatched roof sunbathing platform, with mattresses, retractable white curtaining – that provides both shade and privacy! Massages are available – for an extra charge on the beach. If you want to go into the sea for a swim ‘jellie’ shoes are advisable to protect your feet from the sharp coal reef.

Feeling hungry? You will be spoilt for choice. The air-conditioned restaurant serves both a-la-Carte meals as well as a buffet. Full American breakfasts are available, between lunch and dinner you can get afternoon snacks with coffee and pastries. There are even mid-night snacks if you have worked up an appetite!

For evening entertainment there are weekly themed evenings, a disco bar, all bars stock premium brand alcohol, as well as soft drinks.

Daytime activities are arranged at the adjoining textile part of the resort including, beach volleyball, tennis, paddleboats, kayaks and snorkelling. A lot of guests spend their time during the day by the warm, free-from pool, making new friends and using the swim up bar. Sun loungers and floating mattresses are available and in plentiful supply as are towels.

Sounds a perfect away from it all resort?

Desire Resort & Spa Yucatan Peninsula

This is a 4* resort for Naturists – mixed sex couples only. Again, an all year round venue with all-inclusive facilities.
The setting is village-style among coconut palms and jungle plants in private grounds. It borders the beautiful turquoise sea and is backed by the jungle. It’s a truly romantic, peaceful setting.  The resort is clothing optional – apart from the restaurant and wherever food is served.

This is a truly hedonistic, lifestyle resort.  There are a few ‘lifestyle’ / anything goes areas.  One is on the ‘palapas’ (which are great beach-side beds), another is the rooftop Jacuzzi Lounge (that accommodates 30 people) and then there’s the ‘Playroom’ adjoining the disco bar - where guests can truly abandon any inhibitions.  I haven’t visited myself, but get the distinct impression this is a resort for the broadminded!  The spa even offers multi-couple treatments served with a glass or two of wine – but we couldn’t possibly comment on the detail – will you?!

There is a good variety of food; the air-conditioned main restaurant serves buffet style breakfast, and dinner.  Casual dress is fine. The air-conditioned international restaurants require more formal elegant attire; choose between the international, Asian and Italian – all offering a la Carte top quality meals. The Coconut snack bar and grill is for lunch, serving a large variety of grills and speciality food.

The large freshwater clothing optional pool is the focal point of the resort. Most of the daytime activities take place in this area organised by the entertainment team.

A small shop sells postcards and Mexican souvenirs and other essentials, while the silver store has silverware and other items.

Feeling active? Tennis courts, table tennis, kayaking, scuba diving and fishing is available.

In the evenings the disco lounge has themed evening and holds impromptu entertainment. The dress code here is sexy and sensual.

If you are looking for a no holds barred hedonistic holiday and are very broad minded this may be the place for you!!!!

If you have been to either resort we’d love to hear your first hand experiences.
