MOM TRI’S BOATHOUSE, Thailand

If I lay down in a darkened room, relax totally, close my eyes, let my mind wander back a few years and dream, a warm, wonderful glow suffuses my whole being.

So, what or where can possibly invoke such strong, evocative emotions?

It’s a hotel, for people who prefer not to stay in hotels!

Where is it? Phuket, Thailand.  What is it that makes it so special?

Is it the staff that all treat you like one of a close, warm family? Is it the view of the fabulous Andaman Sea that you glimpse through the foyer as you arrive? Maybe it’s the understated luxurious (only 36) bedrooms with their sumptuous fluffy towels and bathrobes, the free Wi Fi, a TV showing free movies and international programmes, the daily snacks that are left each afternoon in your room? The breakfasts with their amazing selection of tropical fruits, fresh bread, smoked salmon, hot food cooked to order.

Maybe it’s the serviced beach facilities; whilst you enjoy your breakfast, (the beach is literally a couple of steps down from where you eat) where you can ask one of the beach boys to reserve your sun-bed? It will be ready for you with towels, iced water (frequently replenished without prompting), cool flannels offered throughout the day, the warmest sea you could ever imagine is just a few steps away. The long, wide beach with long-tail boats for hire will tempt you to take a trip, stroll for half an hour along the pristine, white sand soaking up the views and ambience. Or, could it be the gourmet restaurant with its award wine list, and the gentle music being played on the grand piano as you dine? The food is superb; you can even learn to cook Thai food, as they offer twice-weekly lessons in house.

There are far too many reasons to mention here as to why you should go to this wonderful boutique hotel. Don’t expect nightly entertainment or disco’s, you go to relax, be pampered, have service so unobtrusive you are not aware it’s happening. Having stayed here twice already will I go back once again? If my ‘boat comes in’, or I if I win the lottery, oh yes, this would be the first place I would return to.

Their website even gives sample menus: http://www.boathousephuket.com/
