If you are a naturist and contemplating visiting Crete – you will certainly be spoilt for choice regarding naturist tolerated beaches. The majority of naturist beaches are on the southern part of the Island (please let us know if you find others in different regions) Officially naturism is only allowed in a few licensed areas, but there are many remote, quiet coves and beaches on Crete where you can get an all over suntan. Use your discretion and observe ‘no nudism’ signs when they appear – often at weekends and during July and August when a lot of Greeks make use of the beaches and you will be fine.

If you are looking for a Naturist hotel on Crete why not stay at the Hotel Vritomartis. This beautiful Hotel is family fun, with good facilities and standards; situated on a remote spot a little way from Chora Stakion with it’s unspoilt coastline and high mountains. You choose between either a room in the hotel or a bungalow in the grounds.

The enchanting island of Kefalonia (Cephalonia) is the largest of the seven islands in the Ionian Sea. The eastern shores are gentle, while those on the west or rocky and precipitous and it’s the most mountainous Island of the Ionian. It’s a green Island, with lovely forests, citrus, olive, and fruit trees plus vines.

As far as I am aware there is only one naturist resort on Kefalonia….if you know of others please leave a comment so that we can investigate and add it/them to our list.

The naturist resort of Vassaliki is Greece’s newest naturist resort. It is run by an English couple and is just a 15-minute drive from Kefalonia airport and 10 minutes away from Argostoli with it’s good selection of local shops, supermarkets and choice of restaurants and bars.

This is possibly Thailand’s biggest annual festival and marks the start of the Buddhist New Year…..with water!  It starts on April 13th and lasts at least 3 days to the 15th, but in some parts of the country it goes on for up to 10 days and Pattaya celebrates in the following week.  As it is an official holiday most businesses, including government offices and many shops, are closed.

Everyone gets wet, including Buddha images, which are bathed on the 13th as part of the ceremonies.  Today families pack into the back of pickup trucks use water guns, hoses and buckets to fire their water missiles in ‘drive-by’ squirtings that go on until sun down.  Traffic can be bumper to bumper, and one downside is that unfortunately road fatalities increase as people ride on bus and train roofs and driving can be even more erratic.  Tourists are not exempt from a soaking as eager water throwers have been known to board buses or hurl buckets of liquid through open windows and even police officers are considered fair game, albeit a little more gently than the general public. The important thing is that it is all in good spirit, and as it’s quite a hot time of the year an impromptu shower can be a welcome relief!  Be warned however that some Thais also throw white powder to ward off evil spirits, but its not good for your eyes (wear sun glasses) or your camera (keep it in a plastic bag and be careful when you are using it).

This hotel is billed as a work of ‘living art’.  All 30 rooms and objects have been created / custom made by a German artist called Lars Stroschen.  Nothing has been bought.  The intention is that each room has its own very unique ambience.

Not all bedrooms have private bathrooms so you may want to choose your room carefully.
